DAVE MUSTAINE Says GIGANTOUR Is 'All About Musicianship And People Who Are Positive'

September 5, 2006

United Press International reports that MEGADETH's Dave Mustaine says this year's Gigantour will be a celebration of headbanging rock at its best.

"It's all about musicianship and people who are positive," says Mustaine, who started the heavy metal package tour in 2005. "We want people out there who aren't afraid to do a guitar solo, and with the guys from LAMB OF GOD, OPETH, ARCH ENEMY and the other bands, we have a great new generation of guitar players out there."

The Gigantour 2006 lineup also includes ARCH ENEMY, OVERKILL, INTO ETERNITY, SANCTITY and THE SMASHUP.

The tour begins Wednesday near Boise, Idaho, and plays 25 dates into early October. Three Australian dates are set for late October.

The inaugural Gigantour, which also featured DREAM THEATER and FEAR FACTORY, spawned CD and DVD releases.

The "Gigantour" CD, which came out on August 22, sold around 500 copies in its first week of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

The "Gigantour" 2-DVD set is released today (Tuesday, September 5) via Image Entertainment.
